NAVIGATE PARENTING IN DUTCH

Mama in Nederland

In a small group of four mothers, this 10-hour language progamme brings two worlds together: learning Dutch and navigating parenting.

At the playground, you may want to step in when children don’t want to share, or when someone is being left out. But you feel limited by your Dutch. At school, a teacher might see your child’s needs differently from you, and you want to explain your perspective.

Even in your own language, it’s not always easy to know what to say in these situations. This course, will allow you to think, reflect, and respond at your own pace. Become yourself again in Dutch!

¨I really enjoyed the class with Emma! This was what I needed: a friendly and practical guide through daily "dutch life" with kids. Each lesson is based on real situations that's why it is so useful and satisfactory.

Highly recommended!¨

IK BEN EMMA

Originally from the Netherlands with Irish roots, I moved to Spain nine years ago without speaking a word of Spanish. Since then, I’ve become a mother and found myself raising a multilingual daughter while learning to navigate daily life in a country that isn´t my own.

I studied Spanish seriously, but I couldn´t always keep up; parent-teacher meetings often left me guessing, and I struggled to step in when my daughter had problems with her friends.

My experience of living abroad and raising a child across languages and cultures has taught me how important it is to feel understood. That’s what led me to develop this course for mums who are building a life in the Netherlands, in a new language.
