NAVIGATE PARENTING IN DUTCH
Mama in Nederland
General Dutch is one thing. Parenting language is another. As a parent, you'll find yourself in situations that call for a different kind of Dutch than most language courses teach.
Mama in Nederland prepares you for a wide range of parenting situations, including school meetings, doctor's appointments, playdates and handling conflicts between children at the playground. In a small group of just four mothers, you'll work through these and many other situations, so you can take an active role in your child's life in the Netherlands.

IK BEN EMMA
Originally from the Netherlands, I moved to Spain nine years ago without speaking Spanish. After becoming a mother, I experienced first-hand how challenging it can be to raise a child in another language. Parent-teacher meetings, friendships and everyday conversations suddenly become much harder to navigate.
Living abroad and raising my daughter across languages and cultures showed me how important it is to feel understood. That's why I created Mama in Nederland.

PLAY & SOCIAL TALK
Let´s practise phrases that help guide children calmly and clearly during playtime. Let´s explore how to arrange playdates with other parents. Learn to discuss important topics such as bullying or inclusion, to help you encourage positive friendships.

TALK TO THE SCHOOL
Learn to talk with teachers and daycare staff. Let´s practise talking about your child’s progress or worries. Learn how to explain behavioural challenges, concentration difficulties, or changes at home, so you can help your child get the support they need.

HEALTH
Roleplay short conversations you might have with a doctor. Practise describing symptoms and what to say if you feel the doctor isn’t listening. Let´s make sure your health needs are understood and taken seriously.
PRIVATE CLASS
